Hockey Calgary and our Member Clubs believe that introducing U13AA within the community stream will create more opportunities for players to develop at a higher level while staying connected to their home organization. Over the past four seasons, an average of 7-8 players per team (approximately 80 per year) have played U13AA and then returned to their community programs. By offering U13AA within the community system, we can expand access to elite-level hockey for more players, leverage the strong coaching support that naturally exists within our communities, and provide a high-performance program without the additional financial burden of elite hockey.

If a family does not wish to play at this level, can they opt out?
There will be a MANDATORY question all GL U13 families will be required to answer relating to the U3AA team. This question will read, “Does  your player wish to “tryout” for the GL U13AA team for the 2025-2026 season?”  Declaration of desire to try out for this team MUST be made at the time of registration, GL will not accept changes once a player’s registration has been completed.

Players will not be required to complete separate tryout sessions to be eligible for this team. All players not rostered to the U13 AA team will be assigned to their team in order or evaluation ranking.

2ND TRYOUT PERMITTED?
There will be no 2nd tryouts at the U13 AA level.  If you are unsuccessful in securing a spot on the U13 AA team within your designated community, you will be required to continue evaluations within that community.
