This program is available for players ranging from U9-U18. These players will participate in an evaluation process that will place them on a tiered team of like-skilled players within their age group. Glenlake teams will compete against other community hockey teams from across the city. Teams will be assigned practice ice by the Glenlake Administrator and games by Hockey Calgary. Glenlake aims to achieve a 2:1 practice to game ratio over the span of the season. Varying ice/team availability creates a varied schedule from week to week. U7 Timbits schedules are kept to a similar schedule each week but may have ice times moved to accommodate ice shortfalls we may have.
Should teams wish to acquire additional practice ice and seek out additional games and tournaments at their own expense, they are free to do so within the guidelines set forth by Hockey Calgary. Most teams ask for a nominal cash call and/or organize a team fundraiser to subsidize additional team activities, tournaments, apparel, etc. There is also an expectation that all families will contribute by volunteering at the team level. Volunteer roles at the team level do not qualify towards the Glenlake volunteer committment.
The year is structured into a Seeding Round from Oct-Nov and Regular Season from Dec-Mar. All Community teams U9 through U18 participate in Esso Minor Hockey Week in January and all Community teams U11 through U18 participate in City Playoffs in March.
