U13

Glenlake players have the chance to compete at a higher level while staying connected to their home community.

U13 offers players the opportunity to continue their development in a competitive community environment with strong coaching and a focus on skill growth, teamwork, and enjoyment. Players remain fully integrated with the Glenlake community program.

Program details

  • Players are provided 2 preseason skate sessions. Sessions will be assigned and communicated in August and Cannot be changed.  These are optional skates.
  • Players are evaluated based on declared position, forward, defense or goalie.
  • Team size: Determined by registration numbers.
  • All players are evaluated through the standard Glenlake evaluation process.
  • No declaration or separate tryout is required for the regular U13 community team.

U13 AA Program

Elite Stream Tryouts (U13, U15, U18)

Players in U13, U15, and U18 divisions who wish to try out for AA or AAA Elite Stream teams must follow the steps below:

  1. Pre-register with Glenlake
  2. Register with the Calgary Royals – Registration must be completed separately through their website.

Should your U13/U15/U18 player be returned to Glenlake and they have not been pre-registered with Glenlake, they will not be guaranteed a space and should a space be available a late registration fee of $250 will be applied.

Practices & Games

  • Up to 3 practices per week may be provided.
  • Games will be 90 minutes, using the 15-20-20 format with no floods.
  • League play will be within Calgary only.
  • Teams are expected to play a 28-game league schedule.

Coaching and League Play

The U13AA team may have parent or non-parent coaches, with the goal of selecting the best available coaches for player development. Teams will compete in Hockey Alberta’s AEHL Calgary Division, with game sheets and statistics available through FloHockey.

Evaluations

All players will participate in the regular 2025–2026 Glenlake evaluation process. The top-ranked players who did not opt out of U13AA will fill the roster, and remaining players will be placed on their community teams based on evaluation ranking.

Family Expectations

Families are required to complete Glenlake volunteer credits, in addition to mandatory volunteer roles at the U13AA Thanksgiving tournament. Teams will also participate in the Thanksgiving long weekend tournament, Esso Minor Week, and up to two additional tournaments within the AA schedule window.
