Registration Information

Registration will be available from June 15 to August 15

Please read the information below before proceeding to the registration link at the bottom of the page.

New and transferring players are required to submit proof of age and residency prior to registering(including those players with siblings in the Glenlake program). To simplify this process, we have created a simple intake form to collect this information. This helps us verify eligibility and get your child approved quickly so they can register for the season.

The intake form should take about 10–15 minutes if you have your documents ready. Once submitted, our administrator will review everything and get back to you with next steps.

Your child is not confirmed as a member of Glenlake and cannot participate in evaluations or be rostered until these documents have been received.

Evaluations

Evaluations are a fair, structured, and positive process designed to place your child on a team with players of similar skill level — from first-time skaters to experienced athletes.

Key Things to Know

  • Players must not wear jerseys with names during evaluations.
  • Most ice times are held at Flames Community Arenas (FCA).
  • Full attendance is expected — missing sessions can affect team placement.
  • Goalies have separate dedicated assessment sessions.
  • Timed sessions will be run by Fuel Performance Testing using an electronic timing system, while Glenlake volunteers will help with ice access and wristbands only.
    • U9, U11, and U13: The timed drills are basic age-appropriate exercises that measure forward skating, backward skating, agility, puck handling, and, for U11 and U13, transition skating. Each player gets two attempts per drill, with the best time recorded.
  • U15 and U18: Initial groupings are based on the previous season’s team placement.
  • Final team placement is determined by overall evaluation performance.

Pre-Evaluation Skates (Optional)

Glenlake offers free pre-evaluation skates as part of Hockey Canada’s Pathways program. These sessions help players prepare but are not used for evaluation or team placement. Players are randomly grouped and cannot switch sessions.

Age Group Coordinators

During evaluation season, if you have not been contacted before your first evaluation, please reach out to your coordinator. Schedules and registration details will be emailed to families as they become available.

Pathway Pre-skates

  • No-cost pre-evaluation skates for all players as a part of Hockey Canada’s Long-Term Player Development Model called Pathways.  This program is designed to create a positive experience and to allow all players equal access to pre-evaluation ice times to prepare for Glenlake evaluations.
  • These pre-skates are optional, and all players are sorted into groups the week prior to evaluations.
  • These are planned sessions where the player will experience and practice the drills used during
    evaluations.
  • No friend requests or moving between groups will be accommodated.
  • At no time during these sessions will players be evaluated

Note: Ice times may be booked over the Labour Day long weekend (Friday to Monday)

Glenlake Minor Hockey is a volunteer-driven organization. Every family plays an important role in keeping the club running smoothly and registration fees as affordable as possible.

All families are required to complete a set number of volunteer commitments each season. The number of commitments depends on your child’s age division.

  • U7 – 1 commitment
  • U9 – 2 commitments
  • U11 – 2 commitments
  • U13 – 2 commitments
  • U15 – 2 commitments
  • U18 – 1 commitment

Team Level Obligations although a Members’ Club Volunteer Bond may be completed, as per the Commitment Contract that was acknowledged at the time of registration, Members still have an obligation to their player’s team and MUST ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTE at the team level ensuring the team workload is shared, and that Team operations responsibilities have been covered; regardless of their family Volunteer Bond status. Team Managers will assign team level tasks to parents, and it is expected all parents contribute to these tasks. There is no ability to pay the bond or otherwise opt out of team level support.

1 credit = $250

Note: A family’s total commitments will not exceed those required for two players.
