SUBJECT: Hockey Calgary – Temporary Cancellation – Nov. 13 – 27
The government of Alberta in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced a two-week temporary pause of indoor group activities including team sports. This two-week pause will run from Friday Nov. 13 – Friday Nov. 27, all activities slated for Nov. 12 can proceed.
During this time, all Hockey Calgary and Member Association events are temporarily cancelled, this includes all practices, games and any activity associated with your team (cohort) both on and off the ice.
From the perspective of Hockey Calgary, the health and safety of our players, coaches, referees, spectators, and the community is our utmost priority. While we are disappointed with the sudden halt, we understand the reasons why and will support all Albertans in ensuring this outbreak does not spread any further.
As an organization we have worked extremely hard to ensure the safety of our participants and volunteers and we are hopeful we will be back in the rink on November 28 to continue our season.
The next step in our planning will be to determine how we return to play following this temporary pause. We will review in the coming days and make an announcement to the membership as information come available to us.
I thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented decision.
