Dear Glenlake Families:

Given the Government of Alberta’s communication last week on what a path forward may look like for reducing restrictions brought in to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including the fact that in the best case minor hockey would not be able to start until March 1, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Calgary have made the difficult decision to end regular league play for the remainder of the 2020-21 hockey season.  Please see attached Bulletins.  This is an unfortunate result for our families and players and we wish there was an avenue that allowed our players to be active in a safe, structured setting playing the sport they love while furthering their physical, mental and social health.

As noted in the Hockey Calgary Bulletin, given clarity on the winter season, we will finalize our plan and process to provide members with fair refunds.  We are waiting for final confirmation of refund amounts to be provided to us from Hockey Canada, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Calgary and we expect to receive this information later this week.  We understand this is an important issue to our families and we appreciate your patience.  We will provide more information as soon as we can.

The hockey focus will now turn to seeing whether there is the ability to deliver a spring development program for members should public health restrictions be lifted, ice is available and there is sufficient interest from members.  This will be on an opt-in basis and we may reach out with our own quick survey to further gauge interest.  More information to come.

Thank you to all families, players and volunteers who spent so much time and effort in the Fall to get this season up and running and adjust to all of the changes faced.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Chris Brett
